image5 thumb Doctor Who – The right way to online Market! With the Christmas special behind us and its twist title “The Next Doctor” Actor David Morrissey certainly got the fans wondering if it was him who would take the coveted role; Doctor Who from David Tennant.

However the eleventh Doctor Who has now been announced by the BBC in a Doctor Who confidential, as Matt Smith gets set to replace David Tennant in the spring 2010,

The announcement, which was heavily trailed by the BBC in the run up to the broadcast, ends months of speculation sparked by Tennant’s announcement in October that he will step down as the Doctor. Chris Hastings (Telegraph.co.uk)

David Tennant is now due to complete four special Doctor Who episodes this year which will finale in late 2009 with his regeneration into Matt Smith, and as some have already pointed out with perhaps a little less regeneration needed than between other Doctors in the past!

Spring 2010 just seems so far away, so many will question the reasons behind such a hyped up early announcement with full BBC support and air time.

What can we learn from Doctor Who in terms of online Marketing?

Firstly we can learn the importance of planning for any online marketing strategy, for the new Doctor Who to appear on our screens in his official role we have well over a year with his debut to be made Spring 2010. That gives the BBC plenty of time to make his debut hyped and much awaited.

Just as in online marketing you want a good following who will watch your every move with anticipation and readiness.

Creating a brand, marketing it and having a large launch date is vital to overall success.

Why not promote and market your online business the Doctor Who way!
